This weekend, I launched a Facebook page for my Santa Claus puppet character, which I called “Puppet Santa Claus.” This is the first year that I’ve had access to a Santa Claus prior to December, so I tried to figure out some great ways to use him. I had some good luck asking a live audience during my performance for their gift wishes for Santa Claus, and not so long ago I had some success engaging with followers on Facebook via video, so I decided to combine the two. I posted a video and some supporting text inviting Santa’s followers to send him messages describing what they would like for Christmas, and stated that he would be responding to the responses via video. My plan is to accumulate 5-10 messages/letters and then respond to the best ones in one video, perhaps posting several videos in a series.
I do not have very many holiday themed puppets, so I will need to rely on a few of my other puppets to fill in a cast. Gary will most likely serve as a elf, and I have a snowman who could fill the role of M.C.
