Fixes to the Navigation

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

As I’ve been developing ShowRunner, I was noticing that the navigation had become inconsistent. My development process has been very iterative, and I am not sure if describing the group of features this way made it hard for the AI to keep up, or what. My assumption was that Base44 would implement the same navigation across all of the new pages, taking account for user access rules and other parameters.

Suffice it to say, I am used to speaking to a human web developer, and despite all of the marketing stating that Base44 allows you to build a website using plain English, this isn’t entirely true. Or, I’m too accustomed to speaking “geek.” Which, you would think a computer would be fluent in. But, anyways . . .

After some experimenting, I decided that I would fix the navigation by creating a “launchpad” where I would present all of the links to all of the key pages or sections. That way, there would be one page which ties everything together. Originally, this had been the library, which was the page that displayed a list of all available stations, shows, and episodes. But, I’m not sure if the user rights parameters were causing problems, or if it was something else.

So, now the homepage users see when they land on ShowRunner will have a welcome statement and display different options depending on whether you’re logged in or not, and based on your user role.

If as you are navigating the site, you notice any pages that aren’t covered by the launchpad, please let me know. I asked for a link to the launchpad to be added to the main navigation, so it should at least be possible to return to it from any point in the site. I did notice that there is also a “home” link still, creating redundancy, but I’ll have to clean that up another time.

I think that there is also an issue with viewing the members page. I can see a list of members on the app, and Base44 caught and resolved an issue which was preventing non-admins from seeing it, but when I tested I was still seeing some issues.
