Introducing ShowRunner, Version 2

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I was reluctant to do it, but over the last week I have been planning a revamp of Show Runner. I had made a lot of progress with it, but for some reason the different sections just won’t gelling together. I think this is because I took a very iterative approach to developing the app, because that’s what I’ve learned from my experience with designing and developing websites, but apparently that works a lot better with human programmers than it does with AI. So, live and learn, I guess.
ShowRunner 2 is a much more streamlined and simpler approach to the concepts that I had envisioned. Most importantly, the navigation actually makes sense, and I think it looks a lot sharper than the first version. I carried over the concepts of Stations, Shows, and episodes, but without the auto play functions which were baked into version 1. So, it is less experience driven, but that’s okay. There are also personal profiles with an activity feed.
The best part, is that it is way easier now to submit videos, and on the backend its a lot easier to manage and build episodes/shows. I think taking a second pass with this software allowed me to take a more top-down approach towards the process, so they are much tighter.

Although this was inspired by a need to compile and share Puppetry videos, I really think that this could be used for anything. Think about how many of our videos really are just short snippets from our lives; ShowRunner can make it easy to stitch those videos together into episodes, shows, etc. The best example is videos shot during the same day, or during a visit to a zoo. You can bring them together without a lot of editing.
